National Museum

In between the visits to the National Planetarium and the other places, we manage to pull out a short time to visit our National Museum. This National Museum is located in Jalan Damansara. The museum is situated in close proximity to the Perdana Lake Gardens and it provides an overview of Malaysian history and culture. The museum is a palatial structure built in the style of 'Rumah Gadang', an aspect of Minangkabau architecture. Its facade comproses elements of traditional Malay and modern features. The National Museum was opened in August 31st, 1963.
The Musuem displays a lot of natural history and the traditional effects. All fo us had a good time at the musuem and also we gained a lot of knowledge. A lot of history were displayed there and we were amused by the collection of history there that we spent such a wonderful time there.

Central Market and Merdeka Square

After having so much of fun at the National Planetarium ( do not forget to read the previous blogs) , we were anxious for our next place of visit. The bus agreed to stop us at the National Mosque so that we can have our lunch which was sponsored by the UMNO bahagian Cheras (we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the food) and also stop to pray. This National Mosque which is located in Kuala Lumpur has a capacity of 15,000 people and is situated among 13acres of beautiful garden. Designed by a three-person team from the Public work Department - UK architect Howard Ashley, and Malaysians Hisham Albakri and Baharuddin Kassim, the mosque was built in 1965.
The bus left us there and promised to fetch us again at Merdeka. Square Therefoer we decided to have a good long walk from National Mosque to Merdeka Square. However, we decided to stop at Central Market to do some shopping ( which of course turn out to be a window shopping as the things sold there were beyond the budgets of the pupil). We walked trough a tunnel from the National Mosque that links to the Dayabumi Complex. We walked inside Dayabumi till we came out and reached the entrance to the Central Market.
Dayabumi Complex is a major landmark in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It houses several commercial facilities and is one of the earliest skyscrapers in the city. It was designed in a modern Islamic style. The facade of the tower is adorned with patterns of eight-pointed stars, and Islamic arches at the top and bottom of the tower.
Central Market was founded in 1888 and originally used as a wet market, while the current building was completed in 1937. It is now a landmark for Malaysia culture and heritage. This unique building has created a corner to display multi-ethnicity and the stalls are zoned based on the features of each race. There are three main lanes which are the 'Lorong Melayu' , Chinese Street, and the Indian Street.
After having a good time in the Central Market, all of us walked to Merdeka Square. We manage to grab a few pictures and listen about the history of the Merdeka Square. It is situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. It was here the Union Flag was lowered and the Malaysian hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957. Since then, Merdeka Square has been the usual venue for the annual Merdeka Parade (National Day Parade) .
The bus fetched us here and we headed to our next place of visit!

National Planetarium

Hi, welcome to the readers, as this is the continuation from the earlier blog, do not forget to read through the previous blog! Due to the breakdown of the bus, we were sent a temporary bus who promised to briing us aroun KL and complete our tour here. We gladly accepted the bus (which was a cute school bus) and took our seat to start the journey! Our first stop is to the National Planetarium, which is situated at the Perdana Lake Park, surrounded by the National Mosque and the Bird's Aviary. There were so much fun in the planetarium, we played a lot of games and quizzes, and also watched a movie about Sun. Added to the fun, we even measured our weight to check what do weigh in each planet, it was indeed cool and exciting! Pupils learnt a lot new things about Science and also the facts about our universe. It is definitely a thrilling place and I would say that the objective of the trip to be an educational tour is a success!

A trip to Kuala Lumpur & Melaka.

September 2011, Sekolah Kebangsaan Banggol Peradong did a trip to Kuala Lumpur and Melaka. The trip was organised as to bring the Year 6 pupils for an education tour. 7 teachers and 33 pupils joined this trip. The trip was not only fun but was also unpredictable and exciting. Together, the pupils and teachers learnt a lot of new things and also shared ample of knowledge. there were so many places visited both in Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.
On 27th night, all the pupils and teachers gathered in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Banggol Peradong. getting ready, saying goodbye to the parents and placing all the bags in the bus, everyone took their seats in the bus. Ustaz Fahmi did a prayer and wished everyone to have a safe journey and the bus took a move. We had one pit stop at Gambang to have a cup of coffee and took a move. 4am in the morning we reached Gombak Tol and we reached our place of stay, the Agro Hostel Homestay.
after settling all the pupils, the teachers took some rest in on their beds. We were informed that the bus had some breakdown and the programme for the 7am will b shifted to 9am. Thus, we had some good rest, bathe and 'nasi lemak' (it was a bit salty) for breakfast. Then, our journey around Kl began around 9am. Wait for the photos and more stories in the upcoming posts.
